From The Editors: Over the last year and half, bodies in the Middle East-Arab bodies-have been on display the world over in rather unprecedented ways. The images of the torture and humiliation suffered at Abu Ghraib, not to mention those reports unescorted by photos, foregrounded not only cultural constructions of the body and the power (and hegemony) of the visual image, but the different ways that the body has increasingly become a repository for historical, psycho-sexual, and political ends.
