(Vol. II No. 1): Spring 1994
From The Editors: Since our Fall 1993 issue, we have received a great deal of constructive feedback on the development of The Arab Studies Journal. Among the issues that have been brought to our attention is that, although this Journal proclaims no political or ideological agenda, it nonetheless espouses a liberal attitude and that several of the published pieces in the previous issue "attest" to this liberal bent. Although it is not untrue that the previous issue contained material that is considered to be of a liberal persuasion, the truth is that what we publish is necessarily a reflection of the pool of submissions we receive. That is to say, had we received submissions that completely departed from what is here considered liberal, the Journal would have reflected that. We are constantly trying to widen the scope of the Journal by making its pages accessible to writers of all persuasions. What we are unable and unwilling to do is force individuals to write . . .
